He responds, “No mom, you will be staying with me so why should I visit you.”

I ask, “I will stay with you but will your wife let me?”

He responds, “Mom, I’m not going to have a wife.”

My 4 year old, out of the blue says, “I want a life.”

Put two and two together

I respond, “To clean away all the dirt and germs.”

He then says, “I want to clean my hands now.”

I take him to the sink, make him sit on the countertop, put some soap on his hands and I ask him to clean it off with water. He does that and follows it with the following action:

He keeps the tap open, and starts spraying soap at it.

I ask him, “Akhil what are you doing?”

Akhil says, “Mom I’m cleaning the water.”

Ain’t that funny how kids take the literal meaning of what you have to say.

My son Dhruv was playing with his Star Wars light sabre. It was a double edged Sabre. He suddenly puts it in between his inner thighs, the longer edge sticking out at his back and the shorter one in front.

Then he says: “Mom, look I’m a Na’vi from Avatar.”

I ask: “How is that Dhruv (but by that time I already understood why he said that)?”

He points to the hind and front parts of the sabre respectively and says: “This is my tail and this is my weanie!”

A sudden Cackling Outburst from me and I wished I could still be a kid and let my imagination run wild like him.

I answer: “No Sriram, you have already played enough for the day.”

Sriram says: “But Aunt, I’m getting a stomach ache”

I respond: “Oh oh, but what does that have to do with playing the Wii.”

Sriram says: “The Wii makes my stomach ache go away. In the morning I was playing Wii and I didn’t have a stomach ache, but now I’m not playing and I have a stomach ache.”"

I said: “Umm, if you have a stomach ache, I’m going to give you medicine and put you to bed.”

This kinda ranting goes on, till we reach a compromise and he gets to play the Wii later in the day.

Isn’t it interesting how their logical wiring works at so young an age!

I asked: “Why Dhruv?”

He says: “Mom, I don’t want to be killed like Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi”

I was rather baffled at this. It so happens that they watched a movie about Martin Luther King and at the end of the movie he watched somebody kill Martin Luther King. I tried to explain to him that not all famous people are not killed but, there so only that much you can explain to an 8 year old.

When I look at my younger child I feel he’ll go into politics. So, I was joking to my older son one day that Akhil (my younger child) will be a President of America someday like Obama and I will go live in the White House with him.

To that my older son responds “I’m going to build you a White House Mama and you can live in your own White House!”

I was really touched. Maybe some part of my dreams will come true.

Weight is so easy to gain,

With not an iota of pain,

But losing the pounds,

Is like being chased by hounds,

So lesson learnt no gain, no pain.

My son’s friend Luke was picking out boogers from his nose in the library at school. The teacher asked him to go out and pick his boogers. The library in the school is not a closed room so Luke stands up and says “Right here outside” and continues picking his boogers.

Lesson learnt  - “Be very explicit with kids”

” There are no ugly women in this world, just lazy ones!”

Isn’t that so true – all of us women have one or more traits that make us beautiful. It is up to us to realize, project and preserve these traits. By exercising, taking good care of our skin, drinking tons of water, and most importantly wearing makeup, clothes and jewelry which suit us, we can all look smashing and stunning.

Also, my mantra – Be Merry, Look Yummy.

My 3 year old upset at losing the game threw up a tantrum. So, I told him to point at my husband and say:

“Cheaters never Prosper!”

Now, being a 3 year old and not understanding the meaning he says:

“Cheetos not Poppers!”

Hahaha.
